We are excited to announce the next release on Cockrockdisco. It’s an album of footwork-rave bangers from one of Japan’s hottest footwork producers. Fresh from the dancefloors of Osaka, our next release has sprouted from the internationally lauded Japanese footwork scene. The difference though, is that this producer slays. As you’d expect from a guy that’s been active in the Japanese breakcore scene for the last ten years.

The result is like smacking a breakdancer in the face with a garbage can, then treating the cuts with an LSD salve. It’s got acid. It’s got breaks. Don’t expect the same old samples. This is rave, baby. And you’re gonna wanna dance, like watching an aerobics VHS on diet pills.

最近聴いたLaxenanchaosのライブは、シカゴのJuke/Footworkのヤバみを彼なりに上手く消化した上で構成された極上のビートだった。恐らく彼は、めちゃくちゃフットワークのビートを研究している。確か、今回の作品に収録される[K hole slang]もライブで披露していた記憶がある。このトラックが本当に最高だ。説明すると、フラットな状態から放たれるさりげないトリックが痛快。このフラットさを軸に展開していくという、そのスタイルこそがフットワークの肝となることをLaxenanchaosは非常に心得ていて、仮にその軸がブレブレだと、ただのブレイクコア崩れになってしまうのである。そんなLaxenanchaosの音源がUSのブレイクコア老舗レーベルCOCK ROCK DISCOからリリースされるというのだから驚きだ。COCK ROCK DISCOと言えば、かつてブレイクコア界隈で一世を風靡（関西だけ？）したDuran Duran DuranやDonna Summer、最近ではOve-NaXx等もリリース。それに、IDM/エレクトロニカ創世記から活躍するOtto Von Schirach等がリリースしている伝統的なレーベルである。直近のリリースを調べてみると、フットワーク・ジャングルなんかもリリースしていた。僕が最近気になっているDubsknitも参加しているようだ。そんなそうそうたるメンツの中にLaxenanchaosが名を連ねるとなるとテンションがあがるではないか。関西で発足したフットワーク・ジャングルのクルーAMENLIFEやAMEN DJZもイマイチ話題性に欠けたまま忘れ去られようとしていたので、ここから盛り返して行きたいところである。フットワーク・ジャングルというネーミングは安直に聞こえるが、実は割と奥が深いと認識している。全く異なるルーツを持つ二つのジャンルが、偶然似通った「何か」を持ち合わせていたことから融合し、その「何か」を確認し合うかのごとく生み出される様が、実験結果のようで愛おしくもある。まだまだ目が離せない。あと、Laxenanchaosのもう一つの魅力として、時折ちらつかせる浮遊感のあるドリーミーな展開。エレクトロニカ的なフットワークはまだ未知の世界なので、もしかして彼によって今後爆発するかもしれない。
